“My first commitment is to love God, which is a willingness to love all.”
Despite what I might have associated with the word commitment in the past, I now know that it can be the most freeing, fulfilling activity of mind and heart.
This is true because my first commitment is to love God. Because I love God, I love all that God has created. I love my family, my co-workers, and my friends just as I love myself.
Do I love myself? I do when I love God, when I love the presence of God, the spirit of the divinity that is within me. This is the divine self within me and all the people in my life. The love of God and love for God within me create an environment of acceptance. I love because it is my nature to love. A commitment to love God is a resolution to love all that God has created.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your mind.”
