What is the first sign of spiritual life ?
The first sign of spiritual life is vairagyam (detachment). If you have no vairagyam, you are illiterate so far as spiritual scholarship is concerned. Vairagyam is the ABC of sadhana. Vairagyam must become strong enough to make you discard the bondage of the senses. (SSS Vol 3, pg 135)
