What does true Mounam (silence) signify?
Mounam does not signify merely the absence of speech. It also signifies the absence of sankalpa (thoughts). In fact, the mind is a bundle of thoughts. If you remove the thoughts, the mind is dissolved. For this, you must control your speech. Only then can you experience Brahman.(SSS - Aug 2000, pg 251 (Summer Course discourse 16-5-2000))
