My first reaction to what someone has said or done may not be appropriate or even true to how I feel just a few moments later - when I have had time to think things over. So I know not to let my first reaction overpower me.
Through nonresistance and a soft answer, I decide what I say and how I feel. What a glorious feeling I experience in being true to myself!
My nonresistant attitude acts as a filter that keeps the anger and judgment of others from adversely affecting me. And because I am nonresistant, I value the rights of others to voice their own thoughts and beliefs.
My soft answer is a statement to myself and others that I am living with the peace of God within me. I contribute to the harmony in my relationships when I speak to others from that inner peace.
I speak words of kindness that resonate from my peace-filled soul.
