It is doubtless essential to acquire skills of various kinds. But the purpose for which they are to be used should also be understood. They have to be used for the realization of the four main goals of human life, described compendiously as the "Purushaarthas" (The four goals are : Righteousness, Wealth, Desire, and Liberation).
