Our faculty of imagination needs to form a mental picture
of the presence of God as being within us, not a God far off.
- Vera Dawson Tait
If I were ever caught outside in a downpour of rain, I would just naturally know what to do : I would seek shelter.
I would also seek shelter if I were caught in a difficult situation - not in an attempt to run away from a problem, but from a desire to turn to God's spirit within me. In the shelter of God's presence, I savor the security and understanding I need to experience.
With my full attention on the presence of God, I am at peace. I feel a gratitude that can only come from knowing true security - the peace of God.
I am no longer anxious about what the future may hold because I know that God will be with me, helping me through whatever is there for me to experience.
God is my refuge and my strength.
